Heritage Education Funds’ #MyLittleDreamer Campaign Encourages Kids to Dream Big

RESP #MyLittleDreamerAn investment in knowledge pays the best interest.

–Benjamin Franklin
If you’re looking for the investment that provides the best ROI, look no further than the Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). With employers looking for at least a bachelor’s degree for most entry-level positions, post-secondary education has never been more important.

Education equips your child with the tools they need to be successful in today’s ever-changing economy. RESPs are a way for you to “pay it forward” by helping ensure that your child has a bright future and won’t graduate with a boatload of student debt.

Growing up my parents were very supportive of me. They told me to dream big and follow my passions. Because of their love and support I was able to achieve great things: graduate debt-free, buy a house at age 27 and pay off my mortgage in three years by age 30. None of this would have been possible without their love and support. I worked three jobs while I was in college and university to graduate debt-free, but life would have been a lot easier with an RESP.

In the words of Whitney Houston, the children are our future. Heritage Education Funds is encouraging kids to dream big with its new #MyLittleDreamer digital campaign. The digital video ads star a familiar face for anyone growing up in the 1990’s, Caroline Rhea, who played Aunt Hilda in the sitcom, “Sabrina The Teenage Witch.”

The videos may be funny, but deliver a serious message: the important of dreaming big and making those dreams a reality. Your child may want to be a dentist, teacher or the next prime minister of Canada, but without planning ahead with an RESP, those dreams may not be possible.

The #MyLittleDreamer Campaign started June 15th on YouTube, the Google Video Display Network, Twitter, and Facebook. You’re encouraged to send in 15 to 30 second video clips of your child sharing his or her ideas about what they want to be when they grow up.

Not only is this a good way to encourage your child to dream big, there is $8,000 in prizing to be won, including a grand prize of a $5,000 Heritage RESP contribution. Don’t wait too long – you only have until September 15 to submit your video.
