How would you like to earn extra income on your blog? You’re reading this blog post, so you must be interested. A decade ago there were limited options for you to make money on the side from your blog. Today the opportunities are endless, but some are better than others. You could write a sponsored post, join a referral program or sign up for a cool new program called QUID. Let’s take a closer look at each of these now.
Sponsored Posts
A sponsored post is as it sounds. It’s a post sponsored by a company or brand that you post on your website. It works in one of two ways: companies and brands may reach out to you directly for a sponsored post or you can reach out directly to them. Sometimes brands will provide you with the content. Other times they’ll want you to write it yourself. They’ll always want at least one or two links back for SEO purposes.
Before choosing to do a sponsored post, it’s important to make sure the company or brand is aligned with your own personal brand, otherwise you could lose credibility with your readers.
Likewise, it’s a good idea to be up front with your readers that it’s a sponsored post. You can include a disclaimer at the top of the post to let them know. That way you’re less likely to lose their trust.
Referral Programs
A referral program is when you earn a finder’s fee for each new client you refer to a company you’re working with. Usually, the visitor to your website has to sign up for a paid membership, but that’s not always the case.
Unlike sponsored posts, with referral programs your compensation isn’t guaranteed. It’s solely based on performance. If 100 people sign up with your link you could earn a tidy sum, otherwise if only 1 or 2 (or none) sign up, you might earn very little or nothing.
Sometimes referral programs are as simple as putting up a link or sign up button on your website. Other times they involve writing a blog post.
If you’re going to do a referral program, my best advice is to again choose a company or brand that’s well aligned with your own personal brand. That way your chances of success are that much greater. Also choose one where the sign up process is simple and doesn’t require your visitors to jump through a lot of hoops.
QUID
A new way to earn extra income on your blog is QUID. With QUID you can monetize your blog posts with micropayments instead of relying on annoying popup and banner ads.
If you write a good, informative blog post, you can give your readers a way to reward you for the content that they love. It’s that simple. Expand your readership and earn money without resorting to subscription paywalls.
Add the QUID WordPress plugin to your website today and start being fairly compensated for your content.
Note: This is a sponsored post by QUID, but was written and edited by me.
