Last month when I wrote a blog post on quitting my job after 8 years, I mentioned that I had some “top secret” projects in the works. Well, today I’m excited to be revealing the first project: the Burn Your Mortgage Podcast.
I’ve wanted to start a podcast for a very long time. I know so many interesting people in the world of personal finance and real estate. And now that I finally have the time, I’m thrilled to be launching my very own podcast.
Here’s a brief description of what you can expect from the Burn Your Mortgage Podcast.
The Burn Your Mortgage Podcast is a Canadian real estate and personal finance podcast for new homebuyers and experienced homeowners. It’s inspired by the bestselling book “Burn Your Mortgage,” based on the real-life story of Sean Cooper who made news headlines around the world when he paid off his mortgage at 30 on a house he bought just 3 years prior. Hosted by mortgage broker, money coach, speaker, personal finance expert and author Sean Cooper, each episode will feature an interview with top real estate and personal finance experts. You’ll learn how to buy your dream home, enjoy mortgage-free financial freedom sooner through side hustle and frugal living, and live well while doing it no matter your financial situation. Inspiring, insightful and fun, the Burn Your Mortgage Podcast will transform the way you think about money and debt on your path to independent homeownership.
Are you excited? So am I am. Without further ado, here’s the very first episode of the Burn Your Mortgage Podcast!
Buying a Home on Your Own as a Female with Chantel Chapman
Chantel Chapman is a Millennial Money and Credit Score Expert with a background in the mortgage industry. She was a mortgage broker for over a decade and has been teaching financial literacy for 10 years.
Chantel is the founder of W-T-Finances, financial literacy and advice for millennials looking to get their money right. W-T-Finances is backed by science-based research in addiction and behaviour to explore how consumerism and mental health are linked to money problems.
I recently had the honour of being featured in the cover story of Toronto Life magazine. The story “the Young Buyers Club” was on millennials who managed to buy a house in Toronto before age 30. When I read the article something seemed off. While there were a couple female homebuyers who owned properties with their male partners, there weren’t any single female homebuyers featured in the article. I’m not the only one who noticed. Chantel noticed, too. So after exchanging a few messages on Instagram, we decided to record a podcast episode to encourage single females to buy homes.
In my interview with Chantel, we discuss buying a home as a single female, closing the gender pay gap and the steps of purchasing a home on your own.
